Version Française: Le texte de l’affiche de Prouvost suggère une histoire inconnue; un personnage silencieux au sein de la ville. En se servant de l’Antique Olive (la contribution que fait Excoffon au développement de la typographie à caractère baton dans les années 60), Prouvost crée un texte à la fois sinistre et comique, en jouant sur le potentiel authoritaire des notices publiques. Cet interlocuteur nous invite à envisager un espace de sens alternatif, mais le pouvoir en est atténué par l’absence d’une apostrophe.

Cette affiche fait partie du projet ...avec Excoffon : sept affichés A1, affichage-sauvage dans toute la ville de Marseille, à titre d'hommage au centenaire de Roger Excoffon (1910-1983), typographe et graphiste marseillais. English Version: The text on the poster by Prouvost suggests an unknown narrative; a silent protagonist in the midst of the city. Using the font Antique Olive (Excoffon's contribution to the growth of the sans-serif fonts in the 1960s) Prouvost's text is both sinister and comic, and plays on the authoritative potential of public notices. This interlocutor invites the viewer to envisage an alternate space of meaning but its power is mitigated with the absence of an apostrophe.

This poster is part of the project ...avec Excoffon: seven A1 posters fly-posted around Marseille, to commemorate the centenary of the Marseille typographer Roger Excoffon (1910-83). The other posters are by Åbäke, Fiona Banner, Martin Firrell, Ryan Gander, Liam Gillick and Stéphane Le Mercier.
